May 2018 Update From Your School Council

Hello Everyone,

A lot has been happening around the school this term and I would like to tell you about some of the wonderful activities coming up and the latest news from your school council. The school is currently undergoing an external review process, this takes 3 days to complete and it is carried out every 4 years to ensure that everything is running smoothly and that we meet all of the standards and guidelines required by the Department of Education and Training. We had our first day of the review on Monday 21st May. The staff should be congratulated for all of their hard work. Days 2 and 3 of the review will be held in June.

This week is Education week and the students and staff are celebrating the arts and we hope you enjoy visiting the classrooms to see all of the wonderful work that has been created.

At the School Council meeting held on Tuesday 15th May at 7pm in the staffroom we watched the Junior School Council’s video presentation about the student toilets and the request for soccer goals. The student’s did an excellent job and the environment sub-committee have taken their suggestions regarding the soccer goals, toilets, extra seating in the school grounds and their practical solution to the problem with rubbish being blown out of the bins. We will continue work and support our Junior School Council to solve these issues.

There has been a lot of work done on the school gardens and grounds. The new garden beds are almost done and will look great once everything is finished.

The Annual General Meeting will be held in the staff room at 7pm on Tuesday 12th June. At this meeting the School Council presents the 2017 Annual Report to the school community. Everyone is welcome to come and hear all about what the school achieved in 2017. The Annual General Meeting is followed immediately by our regular School Council meeting. We still have one vacancy on school council which a community member or parent could fill. So if you are interested, have a chat with our School Principal Paul and come along to our June meeting.
